Assignment 3 - Brian Trifaro

Most of my stuff is in Philly but while I'm home in Downingtown I decided to grab the things that meant the most to me. This pile is titled Geek Power. I named it that because most of the objects in the pile are video games / video game paraphernalia (controller). This pile would have meant a lot to 2015-16 Brian, but today it only evokes nostalgia. Here is to growing up!
The pile started with no purpose but I soon realized I was grabbing stuff that once held a sentimental value.

All three piles*

This pile consists of all the books I am currently using for my last semester. I read each one about every other day. This pile is dedicated to academia and knowledge. Personally I love how the two books help each other stand upright (Did I just make a metaphor about college?). The title of this pile is Triangular Knowledge

This pile is made entirely of music related objects. At the bottom we have a rack tom that goes to my Pearl drum kit. On top of the tom we have a 2002 Casio keyboard that still works. A Dinosaur Jr. album is tucked into the keys so it stands upright. Drum sticks are held in place by the rack tom and the force from the album leaning forward. This pile holds some nostalgic meaning since that keyboard was the first instrument I owned as a child. I later picked up drumming. Dinosaur Jr. is special to me because my brother and I saw them together at Union Transfer in 2016. I titled this pile NOISE. I recently discovered that if I don't have a source of noise when I'm falling asleep I get extremely anxious. Noise is something that comforts me.

This pile consists of one Gamecube, 25 PS4 games, a Nintendo Switch controller, a Gamecube controller, and hand sanitizer. I have probably completed 80% of the games in the pile. To me gaming means a lot. I grew up playing Nintendo 64 and Gamecube. Most of my childhood friends and I bonded while playing some form of video game. Video games have helped me throughout my entire life. I met some of my best friends from playing Xbox 360, I still talk to some of these friends today! The bond that video games create is a real one despite what the media or Karens say. As someone with social anxiety it feels great to just sit down and talk to someone without being burdened by the norms of social cues and traditional social roles. I have decided to title this pile Happy Beginnings since video games have been a part of my identity since I was 2 years old. The hand sanitizer is for staying clean. Also please enjoy Charlie photobombing my pile, he has been keeping me sane these past couple weeks.
